This workshop is an introduction to one of today’s most well-known ballroom categories, performance, the dance form also known as Vogue. Vogue is as highly stylized freestyle dance birthed in New York by the Black and Latinx Gay and Trans ballroom community in the 1980’s. This workshop will journey through the evolution and history of Vogue, play with embodying the energy of extravagance and the attitude of opulence and high fashion. Get ready to sell it and feel it!!
Danah Rosales / Maldita Siriano 007 (she/her/siya) is a Tkaronto based queer millennial; second-generation Canadian-Filipin*; a daughter; a dawta; a sister; a sis; a cis; a mother of two; a motha of a kiki house; and a contemporary artist in which her work encompasses teaching, community leadership, collaborative and interdisciplinary choreography and performance. Danah/Maldita is passionate with increasing the visibility, history, and future of the Canadian ballroom community. She continues to develop herself within the mainstream scene, as a Kiki House Mother and as an active community member within the Toronto Kiki Ballroom scene.
